I am a firm believer in “Beauty starts from the inside out” which is why I’m very careful with what I put inside my body and outside. The body absorbs about 60% of what we put on our skin, so I’m always really happy & excited when I find a natural skincare line to try out.
Ricenal is made from 100% Rice bran! It has no parabens or any nasty chemicals. In Japan, rice is a popular ingredient for keeping your skin white. Asians are all about the whitening lol! Back in the day, Japanese women would use the water from washing the rice and wash their face with it. But rice bran is not just about keeping the skin white, it is a very popular ingredient in anti ageing. It’s full of antioxidant’s, vitamins E, A, B2, B12 and fatty acids which help keeps your skin moisturised and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It leaves you skin feeling soft and luminous, which we all want!
The oil comes in a brown glass bottle and is made with just 100% Pure Rice bran oil from Japan and with a hint of rose extract which makes it heavenly to use. The smell is so subtle but makes it feel so much more luxurious!
Ricenal oil is so rich and so hydrating. I only use it for my nighttime routine since it is quite heavy and can look a bit greasy on but wow it really leaves my skin moisturised until the morning. I know a lot of the oils are supposed to be used on top of your cream to lock in the moisture but I usually like to use my oils as a serum and apply it right after I tone my skin. I find this works great for me. During the summer, it’s very humid in Japan so I skip the cream and just apply this after my toner. It has reduced the appearance of my fine lines under my eyes and my spots have gotten lighter as well. Overall, it’s given my face a nice natural glow. Love this product and would highly recommend!
I wish I could say the same for the Ricenal lotion but unfortunately the lotion didn’t do anything for me. It is a face & body lotion that comes in a plastic tube. The lotion was way to light for me. I did start using this in the winter, so that could be why I felt it was so light but I like a lot of moisture on my skin and I found this just wasn’t enough. I stopped using it after a few day’s and I’m using it as my hand cream now, which actually worked out fine! After I finish this, I don’t think I will repurchase it again.
It is around 1,000yen for the Oil and around 1,200 for the lotion. Super reasonable! I found mine at a natural foods store.
